Volunteer support for independent living
Southeast Lake County Faith in Action Volunteers is a family of community agencies, civic-minded individuals and religious congregations (Holy Cross is one of the founding congregations) that work together to provide a safety net of basic services for our community’s most vulnerable seniors. Our mission is to help older, chronically ill and disabled adults maintain their inde¬pendence and improve their quality of life.
Professionally trained and supervised volunteers help with the normal tasks of everyday living such as rides to medical appointments, grocery shopping, simple household chores, errands and friendly visits.
We have assignments to fit different schedules and commitment levels, ranging from once a week to once a month. Our professional staff ensures volunteers have the back-up and support they need to manage their assignments with confidence and ease.
We foster on-going relationships to provide the stability and comfort that many seniors are lacking in their lives. During transitional stages of aging, such as the loss of driving privileges, volunteers step in to provide gap filling services.
