FAITH IN ACTION
A Neighbor’s Interdependence Depends on YOU
Faith in Action is grateful to have the support of Holy Cross Church.
Faith in Action is a non-sectarian, 501c3 organization whose mission is to help disabled, chronically ill and elderly residents maintain their independence and improve their quality of life by helping them carry on with the everyday activities of independent living such as:
-
Friendly visits
-
Errands, including grocery shopping
-
Telephone reassurance
-
Transportation
-
Referral to clinical and community services
-
Respite care
-
Light household duties.
Without this help, many of our care recipients would have to be institutionalized or have a permanent caregiver. Many of them are in a transitional stage of aging and can remain independent in their homes with such help. Since 2003, volunteers have provided over 11,000 hours of volunteer support to 275 care recipients.

The interfaith component of Faith in Action an important part of the program model. The Board of Directors is comprised of leaders from our congregational sponsors including Holy Cross, Christ United Methodist Church, Congregation B’nai Torah and Zion Lutheran Church. There are volunteers representing more than ten area congregations. Faith in Action provides interfaith education, service projects and social activities throughout the year.
Faith in Action works collaboratively with other organizations serving at-risk residents in the community. Most of FIA’s referrals come from local senior centers, social service agencies, counseling centers and township offices. FIA is part of a continuum of care that is working hard to respond to the needs of senior and disabled residents in our community.
