Why Become a Catholic?

Thinking about becoming a Catholic, or completing your initiation into the Catholic Church? Are you wondering if this is for you?

Here are some reasons other like being Catholic:

  • I like being Catholic because you are forgiven for everything. You can start all over again.
    Quentin Cupp

  • I like being Catholic because, like a batting average, it sets a standard by which I can measure myself.
    Babe Ruth

  • What I like about the Catholics is that they have this sort of mussed-up human way. You go to church and there are people of all different colors and ages, and babies squalling. You’re taking a stand with these people. You’re saying. "Here I am. One of the people who love God."
    Annie Dillard, author

  • Simple gestures. Simple words. But they can tell us who we are. We have a tendency to forget. And so we do it all over again – to remember.
    Mitch T. Szfranski

  • I like being a "Catholic" for etymological reasons. Catholic comes from kata and holos, and means "relating to the whole."
    Martin Marty ~ Church historian

  • Being Catholic means, "Here comes everybody!"
    James Joyce
