The point of our journey of faith as Christians is, ultimately, to become disciples of Jesus. We are called to come to Jesus, to fall in love with our God, and to follow in God's footsteps in the way that we live our lives. The name of High School Youth Ministry here at Holy Cross is an acronym, S.A.N.D. It stands for the process of Christian conversion, transformation into authentic disciples of Christ.

> SEEKING DISCIPLESHIP: All people are searching to fill that hole in their hearts. Many fill it with things that simply won't satisfy it's need. That whole was meant to be filled with God's love and relationship. It is the only thing that can fill that hole in our lives. To come to know our God, one must first realize a desire, a seeking to fill that emptiness in our lives, our hearts.

> AWAKENING DISCIPLESHIP: "Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened for you." God's promise to us is true. If we seek God, we will be found by God. It is that epiphany that we, like St. Paul and many others who have gone before us, will experience in our lives if we seek God. When we seek with authenticity, God will awaken us by filling that emptiness in our hearts.

> NURTURING DISCIPLESHIP: If you leave food out that has been cooked, without doing anything to preserve it, it will go cold and become rotten. When we have become awake in our faith life to the love that God is offering us, we need to nurture that faith, that relationship with God.

SAND Youth Ministry's mission is to offer teens opportunities to seek out God, to become awakened to His love for them, and to offer communities and experiences to continue to nurture that relationship, that journey of faith.
